Don starts laying the brick foundation.



Katrina and Don fitting river stones into the foundation.Over 700 bricks, 2 tons of stone, a yard and a half of clay, cement and sand go into making this Pich, as well as a bale of chopped straw, for wattle.

Don starting to lay the clay and cement walls. Don and Katrina, as the walls get ever higher. Inorder to have the walls dry properly, the entire yard and a half must be laid before any of the mud dries.

Johann standing in front of the finished Pich, all that's left is to seal the surface and to let the Pich dry. It takes about 2 hours to fire the Pich up to 550 degrees. A long Peal and an eight foot garden hoe are required tools to get close enough to work the Pich.
